There’s a moment, standing at the base of a 25-million-year-old tree, when you forget you’re in Dubai.
The mist settles on your skin. A sloth blinks at you in slow motion. A scarlet macaw calls out from somewhere above, and suddenly, the desert outside feels like a distant dream.
This is The Green Planet Dubai—a living, breathing indoor tropical rainforest in the heart of City Walk. And after experiencing every corner of this magical biodome, I can say with certainty: it changed something inside me.

And none of it would have been possible without the seamless planning of VooTours , who handled every detail so I could simply feel the magic.
The Story Behind the Glass Dome
From the outside, The Green Planet looks like a giant glass cylinder rising out of the desert. But step inside, and you’ve entered another world. Four stories tall, it’s home to over 3,000 plants and animals. A massive man-made silk tree anchors the entire ecosystem, with waterfalls, suspended bridges, and winding paths that take you through every layer of a real rainforest.

The temperature stays at a steady 25-28°C with 70% humidity. It’s warm, it’s lush, and it smells like earth after rain.
But this place isn’t just a tourist attraction. It’s a mission.
The Animals: Meeting the Residents of the Rainforest
Let me introduce you to some of the creatures who stole my heart.
Mammals That Move at Their Own Pace
The stars of The Green Planet are undoubtedly the sloths. Watching one hang upside down, munching on a leaf with the patience of a monk, taught me more about slowing down than any meditation app ever has.

But there’s another mammal that broke my heart in a different way: the slow loris family—Lonely, Amal, and their offspring. These wide-eyed, impossibly cute creatures are actually victims of the illegal pet trade.
They were rescued and now serve as ambassadors for their species. Learning their story made me realize how many animals suffer silently because of human greed.
Birds That Paint the Air
The free-flying birds are everywhere.
Scarlet macaws flash like living rainbows. Sun conures chatter and squabble like old friends. One landed just a foot away from me, tilted its head, and flew off without a care. In that moment, I felt like a guest in their home, not the other way around.

Reptiles, Insects, and Night Creatures
For the brave-hearted, there are Burmese pythons, monitor lizards, and poison dart frogs wearing colors that look Photoshopped. The insect collection includes massive stick insects and hissing cockroaches that made me shiver—but also made me appreciate how every creature, no matter how small, has a role to play.
And then there are the night creatures. Bats, nocturnal primates, and animals that wake up just as the sun sets. The Exclusive Night Tour + Meal lets you see the rainforest after dark, when the energy shifts entirely. It’s intimate, mysterious, and unforgettable.

Experiences That Become Memories
The Green Planet offers more than just walking through a biodome. These are experiences you will carry with you forever.
Zookeeper For A Day
Imagine preparing food for a sloth, feeding a toucan, and learning how conservationists care for endangered species. That’s what this experience offers.
You’re escorted by expert zookeepers who treat you like a trainee, not a tourist.

You get your hands dirty. You ask questions. And you leave with a profound respect for the people who dedicate their lives to these animals.
Exclusive Night Tour + Meal
I did this. And I cried. Twice.
The rainforest at night is different. The lights dim. Nocturnal creatures emerge. The sounds change—more clicks, more rustles, more mystery. After the tour, you sit down to a meal surrounded by the soft glow of the biodome. It feels like a secret. Like you’ve been invited somewhere humans aren’t supposed to go.

Daily Passes
Even a standard day pass is extraordinary. You can explore all four levels at your own pace, watch feeding sessions, attend educational talks, and just sit quietly while the rainforest hums around you. Thanks to VooTours, my entry was smooth and stress-free. No queues. No confusion. Just a warm welcome and a map to adventure.
First Nature Trail: Coming Soon to The Green Planet
Something exciting is crawling its way to The Green Planet. The First Nature Trail—the Middle East’s first outdoor nature trail-inspired adventure park—is opening as an extension to the biodome.
Imagine a treehouse exploration trail, encounters with giant bugs, a botanical garden with nine exciting flora zones, a dedicated kids play area, and new dining experiences that celebrate the flavors of nature. Biologists will guide guests through the fascinating world of bugs, raising awareness of their vital role in our ecosystem.
For school groups, this adds a captivating bug twist to their educational programs. I cannot wait to go back with my nieces and nephews.
School Field Trips: Where Education Comes Alive
As a former teacher, I was deeply moved by The Green Planet’s school programs.

They offer two main educational journeys:
Programme: Go Eco
Students learn how rainforests stabilize the climate through oxygen production and carbon absorption. They discover how rainforests sustain the food we eat and provide essential medicines.
Programme: The Rainforest’s Relationships
This is about symbiosis—how working together is key to survival. Students explore complex relationships between plants, animals, and indigenous species.
The programs are tailored by age:
- 3-6 years: Animal homes, rainforest resources, what belongs in the rainforest
- 7-11 years: Photosynthesis, rainforest as the lungs of the Earth, exotic animals
- 12-14 years: Conservation awareness, medicinal offerings, the carbon cycle
Imagine a child learning science while standing inside the ecosystem. That’s not a lesson. That’s a revelation.
Birthday Parties in the Rainforest
If you want to throw a birthday party that no child will ever forget, The Green Planet has you covered.

They offer two packages for 10 guests:

Conservation and Research: The Heartbeat of The Green Planet
This is where The Green Planet moved me the most. This isn’t just a zoo. It’s a conservation center.

The Slow Loris Story: A Rescue That Broke My Heart
The slow loris family—Lonely, Amal, and their offspring—were rescued from the illegal pet trade. Slow lorises are heavily trafficked worldwide because they look cute. But they are the only venomous primate. When sold as pets, their teeth are often removed with pliers. This causes infections, eating problems, and shortened lifespans.
Lonely and Amal still had their teeth when rescued. After veterinary inspection and an agreement with the Dubai Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, they found their forever home at The Green Planet.

Standing in front of their enclosure, I felt rage at what humans do to animals—and then overwhelming gratitude that places like this exist to fight back.
Research Partnerships
The Green Planet partners with local universities, offering their facility for students conducting research on animal behavior, conservation, breeding, welfare, and sustainability. Biologists attend international conferences like the International Zoo Educator Conference and the American Association of Zookeepers Conference.

They also contribute animal data to ZIMS (Zoological Information Management System), a global database used by zoos worldwide to organize and share data for scientific research.
This is not entertainment. This is science with a soul.
Why Vootours Made This Possible
Let me be honest with you. Planning a trip to Dubai can be overwhelming. There are so many attractions, so many ticket types, so many logistics. Without help, you might miss something extraordinary simply because you didn’t know it existed.
That’s where VooTours came in.
They didn’t just sell me a ticket. They listened to what I wanted—deep connection, education, emotion—and curated the perfect experience. They arranged my Night Tour, my Zookeeper for a Day session, and even helped me understand the best times to visit to avoid crowds.

When I had questions about the conservation programs, they answered within hours. When I needed to adjust my schedule, they handled it without stress.
Because of VooTours, I didn’t spend a single moment worrying about logistics. I spent every moment feeling. And that is priceless.

If you are planning a visit to The Green Planet—or anywhere in Dubai—do yourself a favor. Call VooTours. Tell them what moves you. Let them handle the rest.
My Emotional Takeaway
I didn’t expect to cry in a rainforest dome in the middle of the desert. But I did.
I cried at the slow loris enclosure, thinking about what they survived. I cried under the silk tree, feeling small and connected at the same time. I cried during the Night Tour, when the guide turned off the lights and all I could hear was the heartbeat of the rainforest.
We live in a world where rainforests are being burned, animals are being trafficked, and children are growing up disconnected from nature. Places like The Green Planet are lifeboats. They remind us what we’re fighting for.
They teach children that a sloth is not a meme—it is a miracle.
They teach adults that conservation is not a hobby—it is survival.
And they teach all of us that even in a desert, a rainforest can grow.
Thank you to The Green Planet for existing.
And thank you to VooTours for guiding me there.
