Al Ain Oasis – Lush Greenery

Abu Dhabi is one of the most exotic places in the world, that garners a huge crowd of tourists throughout the year. Amongst the various places which that the city is known for, the Al Ain Oasis which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the historic city.

The Al Ain Oasis is a historic place which is 3,000 acres wide and has a wide extensive sight which is beatific in itself. Not only to the tourists the place is also a wonderful site that offers the inhabitants a unique insight of the place after taming the desert from the last 4,000 years. In the year 2011, it was listed among the UNESCO heritage sites. However, it was hardly open for visitors. But recently it has been opened for the public after having planted more than 1,47,000 date palms. In addition, the very place is built with an educational Eco-Centre along with making the pathway fully shaded with plantation of date palms.

The heritage site houses more than 100 different vegetations which surround the exotic oasis amidst the desert and extensive plantations which are also used as working farms.

What makes the sight much popular among people is the way it is shaped. The site comprises of a complex water supply system that is built on the basis of a well and a falaj that is UAE’s traditional irrigation system. The Al Ain Oasis has been used since centuries for tapping underground wells. The main criteria for the exotic exhibits are that it highlights the various measures taken for preserving the oasis system. In addition, it is also an exhibit to thank the priceless contribution of the farmers who have worked rigorously in the Al Ain’s farms and still use the traditional methods of farming to keep the sight rich with the essence of nature.
