Know Before You Book
- Wilderness Experience: This is a basic outdoor trip, not a luxury desert camp. There are no permanent restroom facilities in the open desert.
- Weather & Visibility: Stargazing is subject to weather and moon phases. While the Milky Way is most vivid during new moons, the stars remain impressive year-round.
- Cancellations: Tours are only cancelled in the event of severe weather (heavy rain or high winds). Visibility issues like clouds do not qualify for cancellation.
- Naked Eye vs. Camera: While the view is incredible, please note that high-quality online photos are taken with long-exposure cameras; the naked eye view is breathtaking but more subtle.

- Attire: Dress in comfortable layers. Desert temperatures can drop significantly at night, so a light jacket or sweater is highly recommended.
- Photography: Bring a tripod and a camera with manual settings for the best astrophotography results.
- Timing: The tour lasts approximately 6 hours. Pick-up is usually around 6:00 PM, depending on the season and sunset.

Ready to see the stars as they were meant to be seen? Would you like me to check the moon phase for your preferred date to ensure the best Milky Way visibility?
What makes Al Quaa the best place for stargazing in the UAE?
Al Quaa is a designated “dark sky” location, situated far from the light pollution of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is one of the few places in the country where the sky is dark enough to see the Milky Way with the naked eye.
Will the Milky Way look exactly like the photos I see online?
Not exactly. Professional photos use “long exposure” to capture light that the human eye cannot. To the naked eye, the Milky Way appears as a beautiful, silvery cloud-like band of stars. It is still an incredible sight, but more subtle than a processed photograph.
When is the best time to see the Milky Way core?
The brightest part of the Milky Way (the galactic core) is most visible from May to October. During the winter months, the sky is still stunningly clear and filled with stars, but the dense “core” is less prominent.
Are there restrooms or facilities at the site?
No. This is a raw wilderness experience. Al Quaa is a remote desert location with no permanent structures, electricity, or restroom facilities. We recommend using facilities before the pick-up.
What should I bring with me?
Aside from your camera, we highly recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater, as desert temperatures drop significantly after dark. If you are a photography enthusiast, a tripod is essential for capturing the stars.
Does the moon affect the view of the stars?
Yes, significantly. The darker the moon (New Moon phase), the brighter the stars and Milky Way will appear. During a Full Moon, the moonlight is so bright it can wash out many of the smaller stars. We can help you check the lunar calendar before you book.
Is this tour suitable for children?
Yes, children who enjoy nature and the outdoors will find it magical. However, please keep in mind the 6-hour duration and the lack of facilities. It is a quiet, stationary experience focused on observing the sky.
What happens if it is cloudy on the night of my tour?
As per our policy, tours are only canceled for severe weather (heavy rain or high winds). Because clouds are a natural phenomenon that can clear quickly, we do not offer refunds for cloud cover, though we always hope for clear skies!
Can we add food to our stargazing experience?
Yes! While the standard tour includes water and soft drinks, a customized BBQ dinner can be arranged upon request for an additional fee to make your evening even more special.
How many people can fit in the private vehicle?
Our private 4×4 vehicles can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests for the standard private rate of AED 1,470. This ensures a personalized and intimate experience for your group.
